Ecclestone wants medals instead of points

Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone wants the driver with the most victories in a year the World Cup win. There, the Briton will replace the current points system by a medal rankings. The idea came after Lewis Hamilton world champion this year, while Felipe Massa was a Grand Prix longer knew how to win.

Eccelstone: "Everyone know how it works with medals. And in almost every sport, the top three medals in the colors gold, silver and bronze. The important thing is that everybody goes to Melbourne with the aim to win a gold medal. They want do not leave the circuit with ten, eight or six points, "said Ecclestone.

The British think everyone will welcome the change, since drivers in this way would be challenged. Now, it may be that drivers who are fighting for the title soon be satisfied with half instead. The medal will mirror the drivers to take more risks than the race to win. "Everyone is happy with the idea. I am absolutely sure that this is the right way. Each driver will go to fight harder for each position," said Ecclestone.

Probably, the FIA in December with deciding whether the idea will actually proceed.
